This weekend we took Caroline skiing for the first time for her birthday. My mom, dad and Jacee watched Ali for a night. For weeks we have been watching You Tube videos on skiing so Caroline would know what to expect. Friday night we took off to Ruidoso, NM. It's only 3 1/2 hours away.
Caroline was excited Saturday morning! Dad put her lift ticket on and she immediately wanted to go to the top of the mountain. She settle for the bunny slope while Chris and I helped her get her bearings. The little orange bungie cord was attached to her skis so she was able to wedge and have a little control.
It's so hard for little kids to keep their skis together so the wedge really helped her. I had her ski between my legs so she could get the feel for skiing.
Chris and I made lots of trips down the beginner slopes with her. At about 10:00 we stopped for a snack break.
We decided she was ready to go up and do a couple of green runs (the easier trails)
On the way up the lift she dropped her glove off the lift. She was upset and wanted to go get her glove right away.
As she was skiing between my legs she was sing:
"Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol let's go find my glove". I think she thought we we on a mission to find her glove. The whole way down she kept bringing it up. At the bottom Chris and Caroline took a quick break while I went back up the mountain to rescue the glove. She dropped it right on a set of moguls under lift 2. I haven't done moguls since I was in my earlier 20's because they are too much work to have fun. I managed to get the glove and presented back to Caroline but after all that fun my legs were like jello.
We decided to take the gondola up to the top. At Ski Apache the gondola takes you to the top while you can rest your legs without your skis hanging down.
Caroline had the best time! I want her to be excited by skiing so we can go more as a family. Next year she will be old enough to do ski school.
From Friday night hotel shenanigans.

So much fun!!
