Chris and I took a vacation across the pond last week. We spent 3 days in London and 3 days in Scotland and had such a great time!
Here are some highlights:
The first day we flew in we dropped off our bags and went to the Tower of London. We had an early reservation at a place called Duck and Waffle. It is a restaurant that is 40 stories up with a great view and great food. We went to bed early and were ready to go Friday morning.
Friday morning we had tickets for Westminster Abbey. We couldn't take pictures inside (even though lots of people did) it took us about an hour to see all the tombs and then made our way to the Winston Churchill's War room. The War room is well laid out for being such a cramped space.
After fish and chips at a pub we went to the National Gallery. This was Chris's favorite place. He has been reading about John Constable and his favorite painting is The Hay Wain and it is at the national gallery. We went through all the rooms and went back to sit in front of the painting a little bit before going to the next place. We looked in the gift shop for a magnet of the painting but they didn't have what Chris wanted so I got on Amazon and ordered him one.
After touring all day we decided to get a Hop on Hop off bus tour and did the full hour and half tour.

Chris and I were exhausted so we decided to go back to our hotel for an hour before dinner.
Chris found this delicious steak house that had wagu steak down the street for Harrod's department store. What a great end to the day!
Saturday we had the tube down and got to the British museum in plenty of time before it opened. We were one of the first to line up in front of the Rosetta Stone.
It is controversial all the items the British have gathered from all over the world. A lot of people feel that it should be returned to the country it came from. Very cool to see all of it. After the museum we went to the National British Library and saw the Magna Carta and a Gutenburg bible.
Buckingham Palace
Sunday we left by train to Edinburgh Scotland.
I loved riding the train!
Edinburgh Scotland:
Robert the Bruce
My favorite meal was this VERY authentic pizza place. The mural on the wall looked like Michael Scout from the Office.
Edinburgh castle
The coffee house where JK Rowlings wrote Harry Potter.
Monday Morning we went on a rode trip. Chris drove on the left side of the rode and took us around the whole country of Scotland. First stop Stirling Castle
Stirling castle crest
Lochs everywhere
Glencoe
Urquhart castle
We looked for Lochness monster but didn't see him
We stayed in a castle Monday night.
Tuesday we headed back to Edinburgh. We saw the Scotland national museum and the National Gallery
Wednesday we got home with zero delays and brought prizes for the girls.
What a fun trip!
