Day 3: in Portland we took the kids to the zoo. We stopped at VooDoo donuts for breakfast and then off to the zoo.
The Portland zoo was amazing- it was 75 degrees walking around. This is the only way to see a zoo.
Riding the carousal
Elephant- Ali's favorite!
up close to a cheetah
buddies
We rode the train at the zoo. Sam was a little disappointed because it was only 6 minutes long but they all still had a great time.
flamingos- Caroline's favorite
big alligator
giraffe- Jack's favorite
Having dinner in the tent.
Wednesday: We went to Latourell Falls for a hike. Latourell Falls is the closest of the Columbia Gorge waterfalls to Portland. It's just barely visible from the highway and perfect for the kids. It is about 2.5 mile loop. We cut about .5 miles off at the end by walking down a road. We got to see the upper and lower falls.
Silly kid!
The lower waterfall
Ali rode in the hiking backpack. Jack also rode in a backpack and fell asleep. Sam and Caroline found walking sticks that "helped" them hike. Caroline was obsessed with sticking into the water and getting it wet. This the upper waterfall and so beautiful. We wasn't very many people on the path so we pretty much had it to ourselves.
Caroline slid down the back of the forked root tree. She would have stayed here and played a lot longer if we would have let her.
You can see the columbia river in the background
Me and my girls-
Ali can only be spotted by her white hair. She had a great time back there singing and playing with my hair.
After the hike we ate at a really good burger place
Ali thinks she is 4..... Just playing on the IPAD.
