Chris and I went to San Antonio for a quick weekend get-a-way. It was a great start to the summer even though technically summer starts 6/09 for me.
Thursday night afterwork the whole family drove to Andrews where the girls were dropped off. Caroline has been begging to spend the night at Lolly and Grandad's so she gave us a hug and pushed us out the door. Ali was so busy helping Lolly put up the turtle tent she didn't miss us either. We drove to San Antonio Thursday night and got in late. The drive wasn't bad because Chris and I went back and forth finding our favorite songs and singing them at the top of our lungs.
A couple of highlights:
- Chris and I went to my now favorite restaurant on the river-walk: Casa Rio. Of all the places we ate at this weekend Casa Rio had the best hot sauce and the best tortilla soup.
- Caroline helped unpack suit cases from the car in Andrews. When I got to the hotel Thursday night I realized Caroline took my make-up bag out of the car. Luckily our hotel was across from the mall so every morning at 10am when Macy's opened I went and put my make-up on. On Saturday one of the ladies behind the clinque counter offered to put my make-up on -no charge. I got contact solution, deodorant and a toothbrush from CVS around the corner.
-On Friday afternoon it poured down rain. Chris and I had just gotten to The Market Square (The largest Mexican Market in the United States) looking for treasures to bring home to the girls. We got stuck for half an hour. I had an empanada to keep me company and Chris ate a chocolate chip muffin while we waited the storm out.
- On Saturday we visited the Alamo. It's un-Texan not to. They were having a special event where they were shooting off all the guns used at the Alamo. The first one scared me as I was not prepared for the sound going off. I did scream......
- We ate so good on this trip ( mostly mexican food) but we did have Cooper's BBQ on they way home that had a great chopped brisket sandwich.
Chris and I had a great time together! We left San Antonio with inside jokes and a lot of laughs!
Caroline and Ali had a great time with Lolly and grandad. The girls went and "helped" Lolly get some work done on Friday morning. Not sure if Lolly was even able to fix one schedule but the girls loved it.
Ali has the funnest "Cheese face"
Picnic in the park
They went swimming
They found a turtle!
Grandad and Caroline Pal-ing around
They changed seats at breakfast
Ali wanted to go see the "dog dogs".
I sure missed my babies and was glad to pick them up.
Also last week Pip had to have emergency surgery on Wednesday. The doctors were finally able to see what was making her so sick. Apparently she had a shoelace and 2 hair bands stuck in her stomach.
(Visiting hours on Thursday- She does not look happy!)
This is what they removed.
Crazy cat!! She is doing good and has to stay at the vet until Monday to be monitored before she can be released.

I'm so glad you and Chris got to spend time together like that - how wonderful!! And I'm so glad Pip is on the mend!
