This week we went to see Chris's sister, Stephanie and family for Thanksgiving. Leah, Lane & Lauren had no idea we were coming and were very surprised to see us! It was such a fun couple of days.
Chris left a little early from work on Wednesday and we made it by dinner time. Aunt Teddie made Caroline's favorite: Tacos. I got her recipe because Caroline thought it was so good. We stayed up way too late Wednesday night but it was worth it.
Thanksgiving the kids woke up and got right down to business and started right were they left off Wednesday night. Stephanie had most of her menu cooked & just needed to heat it up. Leah and I had to make a few things. Leah made angel biscuits- I had 3!
Caroline's one request was ranch style beans and Ali's was Toffee.
I wanted my granny's mashed potatoes and great grandmother's oyster dressing. It has been a few years since I have made the oyster dressing so I had to call my mom making sure I didn't mess it up.
Chris's favorite Thanksgiving thing is dressing and Stephanie makes the best so he was happy. Luke made the turkey and it was very flavorful and good.
We went around the table and said the things we are thankful for just like Thanksgivings in Startford.
After dinner we went for a walk around their new neighborhood. It was a beautiful evening and a lot of their neighbors were out.
All the crazy cousins minus Kaden
Aunt Teddie got the kids hot chocolate bombs. It was a great way to end the night!
Friday morning we headed home -both girls were asleep within about 30 minutes - a sign of a great time!
A few pictures from November:
I attended a memorial service through zoom for My great aunt Wanda Riffe. Wanda lead an amazing life. Some really neat highlights about her: She was Mayor of Stratford after she retired from teaching. She lived in Mexico during the summers to improve her Spanish so she would be a better Spanish teacher. She took college classes on various subjects until she was almost 90 years old.
Painting our annual Christmas ornaments
My favorite pottery painting store went out of business 2 weeks ago -COVID claims another business-so we tried another in Lubbock. Clay Cafe' was really fun. I have never been and am glad to have a good place to go to paint.
Sunday Ali wanted to wear a Christmas dress to church and Caroline wanted her Thanksgiving shirt. crazy kids!
Caroline hydrating for basketball practice
Thanksgiving lunch at school
Lego creation
Basketball game- Her team is very good this season. She is one of the youngest now that she moved to the 3rd-4th grade league. She can keep up speed wise but still needs confidence in ball handling. I love watching her grow.
