Birthday Weekend

My Mom's birthday is February 15th.  With Caroline and My mom's birthday so close we decided to celebrate Birthday week with a weekend in Ruidoso skiing.  

Ali is still too little to ski so her and Grandad (or gee-dad as Ali called him) hung out and ran errands while Daddy, Lolly, Caroline and I went and skied on Saturday.

We put Caroline in a one hour private lesson while Chris, Lolly and I went up the lift and skied for an hour.

Caroline got lots of great practice in and really started to pick it up.

We rode the gondola to the top.  Caroline skied between my legs on the blues but when we got to the greens she told me to let go.  

I did and she skied by herself!  She even started to turn from side to side.  

She favored her left so my mom, Chris or myself had to stay on that side of her.  We didn't want her exploring the forest. She made several runs by-herself.  We stopped for lunch and then went down one more time with Caroline.  It started to get really crowded after lunch.

My mom and I made one more run before leaving. Right at the bottom of an easy trail I got run over by an out of control skier.  I  did a few flips and lost both my skis.  Thankfully my neck caught my fall.  I really felt ok after getting up and finding my googles. I was really sore Sunday and Monday but hopefully moving around will help that. I also have a nice bruise where I landed on my backpack.

The place where we stayed had an indoor pool and hot tub so after skiing we took the girls swimming.  Then we ate an early birthday dinner for my mom.  Everyone was ready to go to sleep by 8:00.  

Sunday Morning we ate at the Log Cabin for breakfast and then hit the road.

It was a really fun- fast trip.  Both girls did great!  My mom got Caroline some dry erase markers for her birthday.  Ali on the way home colored for about 2 hours on the dry erase board.  The funny thing was she couldn't find a good system to keep the markers so she started shoving them down her shirt to hold them and then retrieved whatever she needed them. She is hilarious!
