Seattle with the Falcos was a blast! It was a long kid-free weekend. Ali stayed with Lolly and Grandad and Caroline got to go on a road trip with Nana and Papaw to California. Last year when we were deciding were to go we wanted to go somewhere cool- weather wise. Chris is the only one that had been to Seattle prior but that was an 8 hour lay over in the Seattle airport about 18 years ago.
A couple of really fun things we did:
The Underground Tour: Seattle has an interesting and colorful history. Our tour guide was hilarious and had lots of great stories about Seattle's history.
Gian found a really great house to stay in. It was in a great location, close to everything including the port where the cruise's dock.
The first night everyone was hungry we decided we needed our own pizza boxes
Every night we played the game "Heads Up" it was hilarious!
Pike's Place Market: This place was so interesting. Only local produce and handmade items were allowed to be sold in the market. There were huge bouquets of flowers for $10, fresh fruits and vegetables, and fresh fish.
Original Starbucks
Gum Wall: I gagged and couldn't stay down here very long
Chihuly Glass and Garden: We COULD NOT have done this with kids.
This was Chris's favorite piece. If I had $40,000 I would have bought it for his birthday.
Space Needle:
Funny enough Amy saw someone she knew from high school. Small World!
Snoqualmie Falls
It was a cool little town outside of Seattle and it did have Mexican food and decent hot sauce.
Thomas the Train
This night we went back to Pike Place Market to get dinner.
Crab legs
Gian and Chris grilled dinner.
Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP):
Back to the Future hoover boards
The Shinning Axe
There were also a lot of Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Ring and the Chronicles of Narnia props that were on display. The Fantasy display was my favorite.
That afternoon we went kayaking in the Pacific Ocean.
I saw small fish, a jellyfish and one weird island rat. Amy was singing Pocahontas "Just Around the River bend." at the top of her lungs. It was awesome!
Chris made fresh guacamole. He needed his glasses to cut the onion. He also grilled hamburgers - one of my favorite meals on the trip!
We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island
On the island we ate lunch and then headed back to Seattle.
and went to the Museum of Flight
The real Air Force One during Richard Nixon's presidency
It was such a fun trip!! I can't wait for the next trip!
What a fun looking trip
